somewhereto_ unlock BT Tower for young animators to showcase their talent
somewhereto_ is partnering with London-landmark, BT Tower, home to Europe’s largest digital screen space to showcase the countries top animation talent aged 16-25. The LED screens around the top of the iconic building will exhibit original animations designed by talented young people for the whole city to see.
If you know dynamic animators or visual artists that would like to enter, or if you’re one yourself, head over to www.somewhereto.com/bttower and upload your entry before the 13th of January 2012 to be in with a chance of featuring in the exhibition.
This unique location was offered for use after somewhereto_, a nationwide project that unlocks space for young people to do the things they love, approached BT group with this innovative showcasing opportunity.
somewhereto_ aims to provide 16-25s with both physical and digital spaces within arts, culture and sport. The use of the BT Tower screen follows previous project activity at 10 Downing Street, which saw the PM open his doors as a space for ten young people looking for somewhere to free run, practice boxing and perform spoken word.
somewhereto_ is run by Livity, a youth engagement agency, in partnership with Channel 4 Education and is funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games across the UK.
Sam Conniff, Chairman at Livity said: “This is the chance of a lifetime to gain access to a platform that will expose their art to a huge audience at a unique venue. This is what somewhereto_ is all about; young people thinking creatively about space and pushing the boundaries of its, and their, potential.”
Suzi Williams, director, BT Group Marketing and Brand, said: “As one of London’s most iconic landmarks what better space to display the creative talents of the nation’s young people than the BT Tower? We’re thrilled to be working with somewhereto_ and this is the very first time we’ve made the LED screen available for people to show their own animations, and I can’t wait to see the entries.”
