Jessie J, Professor Green, Will.I.Am, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Ed Sheeran, Dappy, Lana Del Rey, Chase & Status and many more join Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Leona Lewis and Florence & The Machine on the bill for Radio 1′s biggest ever free* event being held in East London this summer.

There will be 100,000 tickets available for BBC Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend 2012 which will be staged across two days, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June, in East London’s Hackney Marshes.

As the BBC’s biggest ever free-ticketed live event and part of the London 2012 Festival, the Weekend will feature over 100 UK and international artists performing on six stages including the Radio 1 Main Stage, Radio 1Xtra Arena, Dance Arena, In New Music We Trust Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage.

Start registering your interest to attend the event by visiting at bbc.co.uk/radio1 between 8.15am on Monday 6th February and 11pm on Monday 19th March.

Then, for those that have registered there will be two opportunities to apply for a ticket – 11am on Sunday 25th March and 4pm on Monday 26th March either via online or phone. The majority of tickets will be reserved for those from Hackney and the other five Olympic boroughs, with allocation on a first-come, first-served basis.

Professor Green says: “BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra come to Hackney! Hackney is home and the place where it all started for me so I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing event. Hackney is a great place, so events like this and the Olympics will help showcase the borough in a positive light. It’s going to be an amazing weekend and I’m delighted to be a part of it.”

Hackney born Radio 1 & 1Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson says: “It’s not just the main event that will have a lasting impact in Hackney and the area – but the exciting projects that we are doing beforehand – like the Academy. I’m proud to be an ambassador for this event and I can’t wait until June.”

One of the six stages at the event will be the BBC Introducing stage, which will be a platform for brand new talent from the local area. Radio 1 will be announcing how aspiring new musicians from the area can get involved over the coming months.

The event will also be broadcast on Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra with a major interactive presence online and many live performances able to watch on demand if you aren’t able to attend.
