The Hero show lights up Northampton
FLOW returns on the 25 – 26 February and 3-4 March to Broughton House, Kettering with an exciting new commission; ‘HERO’.

This exquisite laser-light art installation by acclaimed British artist Jo Fairfax is part of the countywide ‘FLOW’ the outdoor contemporary visual arts programme and part of the regional IGNITING AMBITION Festival and the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Laser beams will be centrally aligned above the River Ise which runs through the parkland, the laser lines complementing the geometry of the 300 year old waterscape designed by Dutch landscape gardener Van der Meulen, creating some beautiful reflections and intriguing visual perspectives.
Boughton House, home to the Duke of Buccleuch have given their support to a new laser piece being sited temporarily in their magnificent grounds. The formal gardens create a striking context for the geometry of the lasers. Two major landmarks attracted FLOW’s attention; Orpheus, a new landwork constructed in 2009, and the amazing canalised river which runs through the estate.
They saw the potential relationship between the formal canalised river and the straight lines of the lasers would create a quietly stunning resonance. The visually clinical lines of the lasers would be counterbalanced by siting them one metre above the water, creating a constantly changing visual relationship with slowly moving water. By placing the lasers near the water we also increase the chances of varied weather conditions for the lasers to inhabit.
The piece is to be viewed from various locations creating different views and different relationships with the lasers – sometimes close in proximity and sometimes seen from a distance through a small woodland.

Boughton House is approximately 3½ miles east from the A14 and can be found by following the A43 signposted Geddington, Corby and Stamford.
The show is on between the 25-26 February and 3-4 March at 6.30 – 8.30pm
