As Valentine’s Day approaches and couples across the UK prepare for candle-lit meals and proposals, unshredded can reveal the nation’s top romantic locations, with beaches on the Welsh coastline being favoured over Stonehenge and the London Eye.

The poll conducted by OnePoll* revealed that nearly a quarter (24%) of those surveyed voted the secluded beaches in Wales as the perfect romantic spot.

If you’re still stuck for somewhere to go, or the Welsh coastline is a bit far afield for you, here are the other destinations that came out top across the UK.

• Welsh Coastline
• Stonehenge
• The Cotswolds
• On the London Eye
• Lake Windermere
• In the comfort of your own home
• Top of Mount Snowdon
• Dromoland Castle in County Clare, Ireland
• Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh
• At the top of Primrose Hill overlooking London

The survey also revealed that twice as many men than women voted for the turf of Wembley as their most romantic location! It also seems as if the old saying, ‘home is where the heart is’, applies to a fifth of the nation (15%) who could think of nowhere better than the creature comforts of their own home.

*Independent research conducted by OnePoll on a nationally representative sample of 1,000 people.
