Describing herself as the gangsta Nancy Sinatra, and her music as Hollywood Sadcore, 2012 looks like it’s going to be a big year for Lana Del Rey .
Having released her debut single earlier this month ‘Video Games’/ “Blue Jeans”, Lana’s already causing waves in the digital scene with her video attracting over 500,000 hits on YouTube…before it got banned, immediately making people want more.
Lana Del Rey said: “Grewing up in Lake Placid on the outer edges of New York State gave me an epic, nostalgic feel. It’s in the middle of a National Park. But it’s also a struggle because it’s a town built on tourism that no-one goes to anymore.”
At 18, she moved to New York City. “Since I was little I knew I would end up there’ she says, ‘Every day is a pleasure there. Every single day I walk out of the door is a good day. I like everything about it. New York totally rewards me for my love of it.”
Her inspirations include: David Lynch, Black and White 50’s movies, Coney Island, Hip-Hop and heartbreak. She said, “There’s something beautiful about the fight. About any fight, I’m talking about epic, knocked-down, dragged-out love stories in song. That’s what I’m heading towards”.
Following her knock-out performance on Jools Holland, this is an acoustic version of Video Games which Lana Del Rey performed at the legendary Premises studios in London.
“Video Games” / “Blue Jeans” is available to download now. Check it out – we absolutely adore her.
