IF you’ve ever dreamt of throwing in your monotonous 9 to 5 in favour of days spent writing a heady romance novel, now could be your chance!

Carina, the new digital imprint of Harlequin UK, leading publisher of women’s fiction and home of Mills & Boon, is working with the Festival of Romance 2013 (8th – 10th November), to offer one talented and original writer the prize of a publishing contract. The writing competition, which is now open for submissions, will see the winner’s romantic read published in time for Valentine’s Day 2014.

Since its launch in May 2013, Carina has been making waves by acquiring some impressive authors across a wide range of genres. From contemporary love stories to political thrillers and everything in between, Carina has established itself as one of the most exciting imprints around.

Having seen huge success with two of its debut authors entering the top 10 bestseller list in the Kindle romance chart, Carina has now teamed up with the annual Festival of Romance to look for a bright new voice in romantic fiction.

Competition entrants should send in a complete manuscript of their novel, which can be any type of romantic fiction, and include a short synopsis of no more than 100 words, alongside their contact details and social media handles. Entries must be sent on a Word document (double spaced and in Times New Roman 12) with the subject line “Carina Valentine’s competition”.

The editorial team at Carina will choose one winner, who will be announced on Saturday 9th November at the Romance Festival Ball. The book will be published by Carina, ready for the Valentine’s Day celebrations on February 14th 2014.

So, whether you want to write a lusty love-story, a subtle saga or a roaming romance, never has there been a better time to turn your writing dream into a reality.

Submissions should be sent to: carinauksubs@hqnuk.co.uk

The closing date for the competition is midnight 1st October. For more information, including full terms and conditions, please visit www.carinauk.com/valentines-writing-competition
